Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5)
The Preparatory Stage marks a transition from the play-based approach of the Foundational Stage to more structured classroom learning, while still maintaining an engaging and interactive environment. At this stage, children begin to explore subjects in greater depth and gradually develop stronger academic skills.
Teaching methodologies continue to emphasize activity-based learning, ensuring that students remain actively involved in the learning process. Teachers incorporate group discussions, collaborative projects, experiments, storytelling, and the use of digital learning tools to make lessons more meaningful and engaging.
The focus during this stage is on strengthening conceptual understanding, improving reading and writing proficiency, and developing numeracy skills across different subjects. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and think critically, which helps nurture curiosity and independent thinking.
At the same time, this stage promotes important life skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity, and problem-solving. Through interactive learning experiences, students build confidence, participate actively in class activities, and develop a strong foundation for the more subject-oriented learning that follows in the next stages of education.
